Our Nature House
We are building a Nature House that can briefly be described as a timbered house inside a greenhouse.
The greenhouse of 300 square metres surrounds the whole system, and functions as an outer barrier. This creates the climate which enables our self-contained ecological system to work. The greenhouse contributes with protection against the outdoor climate and the greenhouse effect lessens the energy comsumption.
The living quarters comprise a timbered one-story house measuring 145 square metres including the atrium. Situated on the roof of the timbered house is a patio, offering 150 square metres of pergola complete with a pool, sauna, open fireplace, barbecue etcetera. Here is the place for reclining chairs, rooms with greenery, ping-pong tables, play areas for children and more.
Surrounding the timbered house is a Mediterranean garden with grapes, kiwis, figs, apricots, almonds, peaches, rosemary and roses blooming all year round.
The sewage (waste water and urine) is integrated by aid of aquatron with the ecological system which automatically waters and fertilizes the year-round cultivation and the Mediterranean garden of the greenhouse. We use ordinary toilets.
In winter we keep our timbered house warm by using a wood-fired baking oven and a zoned hot water masonry heater.
Here are a few of the advantages of a Nature House:
- The greenhouse protects against the rain, snow and wind.
- The greenhouse gives daytime warmth due to the greenhouse effect.
- The greenhouse reduces ultraviolet radiation and minimizes maintenance.
- Incoming air is pre-warmed in winter and pre-cooled in summer, in an underground pipe.
- Daytime heat is retained within the living quarters for the night.
- The self-contained ecological system conserves energy and nutrients which are transformed by plants and trees into flowers, fruits and vegetables.
- Any misgivings concerning circulation, window cleaning, problems with humidity, sensitivity to storms etcetera, can now be dismissed.
Economy
The greenhouse measures 300 square metres , the timbered house 150 square metres with a full-size basement.
We are building our Nature House ourselves, with a total budget of 1.500.000 SEK.
Additional value: greatly reduced energy consumption, ecologically grown fruit and vegetables, and very little maintenance.
Welcome to book a visit which appeals to all your senses!
